Abstract
Corn (Zea mays ssp. Mays) is one of the most important carbohydrate-producing crops in the world, apart from wheat and rice. For residents of Central and South America, maize is the staple food, part of the population of Africa and some areas in Indonesia. Corn kernels are rich in carbohydrates. Adsorbent is a solid substance that can absorb certain components of a fluid phase. Most adsorbents are materials that are very porous and adsorb, especially on pore walls orat certain locations in particles. Chlorine or chlorine or what we know as chlorine are the main ingredients used in the chlorination process. It is also common that chlorination is the main process in the process of disinfecting tap water, clean water ordrinking water that we will use. However, from various studies, it turns out that people who drink water containing chlorine are more likely to develop bladder, rectal or colon cancer. In addition, the results of studies on the effects of chlorine in animals have also found the possibility of kidney and liver damage. This situation is a motivation for producing value-added material from corncob waste, namely as an alternative adsorbent to reduce water content containing chlorine.
