Abstract

During organizational change, people usually will feel insecure and uncertain, as the situation is full of ambiguity and they do not know what the future looks like. In this condition they will feel anxiety, stress and even depressed. As a result, they need to develop the characteristics of self-confidence, competence, a sense of self-determination and have the ability to give impact to their environment, in other words to have a sense of psychological empowerment. Understanding the importance of psychological empowerment during organizational changes, then the objective of the study is to investigate the relationship between demographic factors (gender, level of education, position, tenure, and employment status) with psychological empowerment. The data was collected from NGO organizations in Jakarta, Indonesia, with N 156, Data were collected using psychological empowerment questionnaire and biographical factors form. The results of the data showed, only gender that have significant differences on psychological empowerment with male had higher score. Further, there is no significant correlation was found between psychological empowerment and other demographic profiles (age, educational level, tenure, potion and employment status), and no significant mean differences amongst the category of demographic variables. Data can be used for the change agent while conducting the organizational change
