Abstract

THE INFLUENCE OF WORK ETHICS AND MEANING OF LIFE TOWARD THE PRODUCTIVE BEHAVIOR OF SMALL TO MEDIUM SIZED FOOTWEAR INDUSTRY ENTREPRENEURS IN BOGOR REGENCY ABSTRACT The success of entrepreneurs are influenced by many factors, one of the factors is productive behaviors. Hence, this study examined two aspects that influence productive behavior, which are work ethics and meaning of life. This study aims to identify the influence of work ethics and meaning of life toward the productive behavior of small to medium sized footwear industry entrepreneurs. The sample of this study consists of 316 entrepreneurs that resided in Bogor Regency. The measurement that was used in this study are the Work Ethics Scale, the Meaning of Life Scale, and the Productive Behavior Scale. The quantitative method was used in this study, and the collected data was analyzed by using the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) with Lisrel 8.7. The results showed that work ethics and meaning of life have influences toward the productive behavior of the entrepreneurs, with meaning of life having a bigger influence towards productive behavior. Work ethics and meaning of life are found to have a significant positive correlation with productive behavior. Through meaning of life, the entrepreneurs are motivated to behave productively.
